I am 52.  I ran St George 20 years ago in 3:25 I was in good shape, built up to the mileage and ran without injury.  Spent the next 20 years running infrequently, at most 2-3 miles 2 times a week. Decided last spring to run St George again and try to qualify for Boston.  Followed Hal Higdons Novice II plan.  Everything was going great until I ran the Hobble Creek half marathon.  My time was what I had hoped for 1:37, but developed knee pain at about mile 10.  I went to a sports medicine Dr. who diagnosed me with IT band syndrome.  I went to PT, backed off a bit but continued to have pain on my runs.  I missed my 12 and 20 milers before the race but managed to barely qualify for Boston with a 3:35.  I took a week off and started back.  Knee pain again.  Took two weeks off running and swam 1 mile three times a week.  I ran 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday and my knee is sore again.  Any suggestions?
